Besiktas are one of Turkey’s established powers, founded in 1903 and based at Tüpraş Stadyumu. Their current squad is sizeable – 37 players with an average age of 24 – and valued at around £234m by Transfermarkt.
Their 2026-27 season has them sitting fourth in the Süper Lig, with European involvement having included the Europa League play-offs and league phase. Recent league form has been uneven but useful: wins over Istanbul Basaksehir, Kocaelispor, BB Erzurumspor and Fenerbahce sit beside defeats to Trabzonspor and Amed SK.
At home, Besiktas have been assertive: 2.8 goals scored per match and only 0.6 conceded. Away from home the picture is less secure, with one goal scored and 1.8 conceded on average. They have also started quickly often enough to matter, scoring inside the first 20 minutes in six of 15 league matches.
Dušan Vlahović leads their scoring with six goals, followed by Orkun Kökçü on five, Vaclav Cerny and Michael Amir Murillo on four, and Hyeon-gyu Oh on three. For Celtic supporters, the profile is clear enough: a strong home side with attacking depth, but not a team without openings, particularly away from Istanbul.
