Wilfred Ndidi, born on 16 December 1996 (age 29), is a Nigerian central defensive midfielder now with Besiktas. His career, though, is tied most strongly to Leicester City, where he became a long-serving and reliable part of the side over nine seasons.
At Leicester, Ndidi made 252 league appearances and scored 11 league goals. His best scoring league campaign came in 2023–24, when he managed four goals in 32 appearances, a useful return from a player better known for screening, tackling and keeping things ordered rather than decorating the match.
By 2026–27, he remained active at first-team level with Besiktas, making 11 appearances in all competitions and scoring once, including five in the Süper Lig and outings in European competition. He has also continued to feature for Nigeria, with 10 appearances in African World Cup qualifying.
Ndidi’s career has moved on from Leicester, but that spell remains the clear centre of it: a substantial Premier League and Championship body of work, followed by a fresh chapter in Turkey and continued international involvement with Nigeria.
