Martin Erlić, born on the 24th of January 1998 (currently 27 years old) in Croatia, is an accomplished defender known for his strength at the centre-back position. He prevails at his current club, FC Midtjylland, wearing the number 6 jersey. Erlić towers over many on the pitch, standing at 6ft 3in (1.92m) tall, and weighs 12st 3lbs (78kg). Not only has he made a significant impact on the pitch at club level, but he has also had the honour of representing his birth nation, Croatia, at an international level.
Erlić's talent does not go unnoticed, with a reported current market value of around €4.00m, an estimated £3.5m in British pounds, according to Transfermarkt.
The defender started his senior career in the lower leagues of Italy, playing for Sassuolo Primavera. In December 2016, he moved up to Sassuolo's first team in Serie A, Italy's top-flight league. Success followed this move, with Erlić making 28 first-team appearances in the 2022-2023 season and following it up with 32 appearances and a goal in the 2023-2024 season.
Erlić had spells on loan at Sudtirol and Spezia in Italy's Serie B during August 2017 and July 2018, respectively. He made 23 first-team appearances during his 2019-2020 debut season with Spezia, increasing his involvement the following two seasons with 27 and 30 appearances and adding five goals to his tally.
In July 2019, his loan to Spezia was made permanent with an undisclosed fee before moving back to Sassuolo in Serie A in July 2022 for a fee of about £3.2m. During his second spell at Sassuolo, Erlić made 60 appearances and scored one goal across two seasons.
Before his current involvement with FC Midtjylland, Erlilć had a brief stint at Bologna in Serie A during the 2024-2025 season. Whilst there, he made eight first-team appearances in league matches.
In August 2025, he made the switch from Italian football, transferring from Bologna to the Danish Superliga side, FC Midtjylland, for approximately £4.3m. Despite it being his debut season, Erlić has already made two first-team appearances.
Alongside his established club career, Erlić has also participated in various international and club competitions. He played in the Euro Qualifiers 2022-2024 for Croatia, the Europa League Qualifiers 2025-2026 for FC Midtjylland, and the Nations League 2024-2025 also representing his home nation of Croatia.
