Celtic Park has witnessed its fair share of talent come and go, and one name that graced our greens for two glorious seasons was none other than the Irish force of nature, Liam Kerrigan. Hailing from the Republic of Ireland, the 25-year-old forward, who is favoured in the right winger position, was born on the 9th of May 2000. Kerrigan is a tidy 5ft 7in (1.71m) in height and tips the scales at a lean 10st 3lb (65kg). He currently sports the number 21 jersey for Como.
According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is set around a modest £170k. His current tenure with Como is marked to expire on 30th June 2026, with only a short 12 months left to run on his contract.
Kerrigan's career tells a tale of steady growth and increasing influence on the field. Back in his homeland, his debut season in 2018 saw him make a humble single appearance for Sligo Rovers. His game time would improve significantly by the following season, with Kerrigan seeing the pitch 12 times for the Rovers.
The 2019 season marked a turning point for Kerrigan. He made eight first team appearances and proudly netted his first goal for UCD in his home country. The following season saw Kerrigan proving his worth once again, making a marked 19 appearances and scoring twice for UCD.
His talents soon caught the eyes of those further afield leading to a move to Como in Italy. Kerrigan graced the Italian league with his presence for two back-to-back seasons. His debut season in 2022-2023 resulted in four first team appearances and one goal. His performance and frequent appearances made sure Celtic could look back on those two years of his time with us fondly.
Unfazed by the challenge of a new country, Kerrigan took Italy by storm again in the 2023-2024 season with eight first team outings for Novara.
Without question, the unassuming Irishman, Kerrigan, left his mark at Celtic Park. With Italian football now privy to his talents, it'll be interesting to see where this seasoned player's journey leads him next.
