Kjell Watjen is a German central midfielder, born on 16 February 2006 (age 20), now with FC Midtjylland. Still in the early stretch of his senior career, he has already moved beyond youth-team promise into proper first-team football, which is usually where the loose talk starts to meet a harder standard.
His most productive league spell so far came with Borussia Dortmund II in 2024–25, when he scored five goals in 20 appearances. For a midfielder of his age, that was a useful return rather than a calling card to be waved about too wildly.
At FC Midtjylland in 2026–27, Watjen has made two Europa League qualifying appearances and two Conference League qualifying appearances, giving him four appearances in all competitions. His market value is around £1.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
Watjen’s career is still taking shape: developed in Germany, productive at Borussia Dortmund II, and now getting European qualifying football with Midtjylland. The next part is simply about turning those early steps into regular senior influence.
