Jonas Lössl is a professional footballer born on 1 February 1989, in Denmark. The seasoned goalkeeper, standing at a formidable 6ft 4in (1.95m) and weighing 14st (89kg), currently defends the goal for FC Midtjylland, wearing the prestigious number 1 jersey. At present, his market value is around £170k, as gauged by Transfermarkt.
The Dane embarked on his football career as trainee at FC Midtjylland in the Danish Superliga, joining the club in July 2008. Displaying promising potential, Lössl quickly worked his way up the ranks, making 12 first-team appearances in his debut season (2009 - 2010) and significantly increasing this tally to 30 in the following season. Lössl’s appearances in subsequent seasons varied, but he consistently remained a key player for FC Midtjylland until his departure in July 2014.
Trading the Danish Superliga for Ligue 2 in France, Lössl transferred to Guingamp for a fee of approximately £450k. Over the next two seasons, he made a total of 67 first-team appearances.
In July 2016, Lössl was purchased by Mainz 05, a club in Germany's Bundesliga, for a fee of close to £1.9m. He ensured his presence between the sticks was felt, with 27 league appearances in his inaugural season.
Subsequently in 2017, Lössl was loaned out to Huddersfield Town, an English League One side. He once again displayed his consistency with a total of 38 league appearances within his first season at the club. In 2018, the loan agreement was converted into a full transfer agreement for a fee of approximately £2.3m. Over the next two seasons, Lössl made 46 league appearances for the Terriers.
However, in July 2019, Lössl departed from Huddersfield to join Everton, a Premier League club. Yet within the space of a year, in January 2020, he ended up back on loan at Huddersfield, after failing to secure a first-team spot at the Toffees.
Upon completing his loan period, Lössl returned to Everton in July 2020, only to be transferred back to his original club, FC Midtjylland, in February 2021 for an undisclosed fee. Here, he continues to showcase his goalkeeping prowess, albeit his appearances on the field have decreased over recent years.
In a brief stint away from FC Midtjylland, Lössl was loaned to Brentford in the Premier League in January 2022. His time here was short-lived, as by June that same year, he returned to his Superliga club, where he continues to keep goal today.
