Joe Chalmers, born on 3 January 1994 (age 32), is a Scottish defensive midfielder whose career began with an early move into Celtic’s system. He joined Celtic from Falkirk in July 2014, a step that gave him a brief connection with the club before his senior career was largely made elsewhere.
Chalmers left Celtic in July 2015 for Motherwell, then moved through a run of Scottish clubs that gave his career its shape: Motherwell, Inverness CT, Ross County and Ayr United. His most productive league season came at Ross County in 2019-20, when he scored three goals in 14 appearances.
He later established himself more fully at Dunfermline Athletic, where his career had a steadier feel after those earlier moves. In 2025-26 he has been with Inverness CT, making two League Cup appearances and one in the Scottish Cup.
