Marking another year gone by, Iván Fresneda celebrated his 20th birthday on the 28th of September 2024. Born and bred in sunny Spain, Fresneda took on the demanding role of a defender- more specifically as a right back for Sporting CP. This strapping lad stands at about 5 feet 9 inches tall (1.77m) and weighs a sturdy 11 stone (70kg). When he's storming the pitch, you'll likely see the number 22 emblazoned on his back.
Fresneda, according to reliable source Transfermarkt, is estimated to have a market value somewhere in the region of €8.00m. Exchanged to a more familiar currency, that sits around £7m. He doesn't seem to be going anywhere fast either, with a hefty 3 years and 1 month remaining on his contract with Sporting CP, which is due to expire on the 30th June 2028.
If we take a little trip down memory lane and relive Fresneda's debut on the big stage in the 2021 - 2022 season with Real Valladolid, there was just the one first team appearance to his name. The following season, he saw a bit more action with the Spanish team, featuring 22 times in total.
Before too long, Fresneda was lured away to pastures new, and found himself suiting up for Sporting CP in Portugal for the 2023 - 2024 season. The number of first team appearances he made began to dwindle, settling at five this time around. In the current 2024 - 2025 season, he has already managed to rack up 18 first team appearances and even impressed with a tally of three goals under his belt.
Beyond the league, Fresneda had the opportunity to represent Sporting CP in the Europa League in the 2023-2024 season, where he made one start and further three appearances as a substitute. In Portugal's Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira 2024 - 2025, he made an appearance as a substitute. He was also given the chance to shine on the grand stage of the Champions League season in 2024 - 2025 with three starts.
