Born on March 15, 1993, in Brazil, Diego Carlos, full name 'Diego Carlos' Santos Silva, is a seasoned defender best known for his central role. Currently, at the age of 31, he plays for Fenerbahce. Standing at 6ft 1in (1.86m), and weighing 12st 6lb (79kg), Carlos is a formidable presence on the pitch. He takes great pride in having had the honour of representing his native Brazil at the national level.
According to Transfermarkt, his current market value stands at about £9.5m. It's worthy to note that his contract with Fenerbahce, which still has 1 year and 6 months left to run, won't cease till 30 June 2026.
The early days of Diego Carlos' career saw him playing for Sao Paulo in the Série A in Brazil, where he joined in January 2013. Before long, in January of 2014, he transitioned from Sao Paulo to Desportivo Brasil in the Série D. His journey didn't end there, however, as by July of the same year he transferred to Estoril in the Liga Portugal where in his 2015 - 2016 season, he made 31 first team appearances and scored two goals in league matches.
That wasn't the end of his tour around Portugal as he was loaned to Porto B in the Liga Portugal 2 in September of 2014 before finally returning to Estoril after completion of his loan period in July 2015. After that, he transferred to Nantes in the Ligue 1 in France for around £1.5m in July 2016. During his tenure with Nantes, Carlos made successive appearances during the seasons 2016-2019 and managed to score one to two goals per season.
In July 2019, Carlos made the move to play in the LaLiga with Sevilla, Spain. He was transferred for a handsome sum of £14m. He stayed with Sevilla for three seasons (2019-2022), making 33 to 35 appearances per season and scoring one to three goals.
His next move in July 2022 took him to Aston Villa in the Premier League in England. This transfer cost a cool £26m. With Aston Villa, he made three appearances in the league matches of his first season, 27 in his second, and ten in the current season (2024-2025).
Lastly, in January 2025, Carlos moved to Fenerbahce in the Süper Lig in Turkey for a fee of around £8.5m. He has, however, not made any first team appearances in league matches in his time with Fenerbahce so far.
