Ziyad Larkeche, for those unfamiliar, a French lad who transpired unto the mortal realm on the 19th of September 2002, consequently leaving him at the tender and ambitious age of 22. He is, by the nature of his occupation, a defender gracing Scottish pitches, specialising in the role of left back at Dundee, or so we're told. The lad measures a rather standard 5ft 11in (or 1.82m for those quantifying lives in decimals) and hits the scales at 10st 7lb (equivalent to 67kg).
Now, his jersey adorns the number 21. One would dare say, a metaphorical representation of his youthful exuberance. According to Transfermarkt, an entity seemingly obsessed with quantifying athletic prowess into financial terms, the lad is valued at around £425k. Apparently, his tenure at Dundee is nearing its twilight. A mere 5 months stand between him and the end of his contract, set to conclude solemnly on 31 May 2025.
The lad's journey here has been a bit of a tumble down the football pyramid. July 2020 saw him join the Premier League's Fulham. Hoity-toity, high-flying Fulham, mind. But lo and behold, by September 2022, he was shipped off to Barnsley in England’s League One. He featured a grand total of 12 times in his debut season, which doesn’t quite scream "indispensable".
By July 2023, Larkeche was off again. This time to Queens Park Rangers, in the Championship. One must presume that promise of a starting slot and a bit of south London charm was what coaxed him there. In his season of gracing QPR's turf, Larkeche made 20 first team appearances.
July 2024 saw yet another relocation. This time to Scottish soil and Dundee City. It seems he's finally found a bit of consistency here. He's made 12 appearances so far, even potting a fine tally of three goals. On top of that, he’s even grabbed a pair of League Cup starts.
One would be left wondering if his next transitory transition might be Glasgow bound, but we'd do well not to be holding our collective breath.
