Zak Rudden, born on the 6th of February 2000, is a Scottish born striker firmly lodged in the endlessly revolving doors of the Scottish league. He currently plies his trade at Livingston, and with a towering height of 6ft (1.85m), and a respectable heft of 12st 8lb (80kg), he's hardly a figure that goes unnoticed. He can often be spotted sporting the number 7 jersey, not that anyone's counting.
Our friend Zak, according to the digital oracle of all things football, Transfermarkt, has an estimated market value of a modest €200k. That's about £170k, give or take a pint or two.
He cut his teeth at Rangers back in July 2016, where he had the privilege of being a trainee. We imagine the glamour was quite intoxicating. Then, in a thrilling display of football bureaucracy, he was loaned to Falkirk in August 2018 and Plymouth Argyle in August 2019. Both moves undoubtedly enhancing his appreciation for Scottish humour and the English weather.
In January 2020, the Rudden carousel continued. This time, it was Partick Thistle blessed with his striking prowess, with the obligatory undisclosed fee changing hands. The ride didn't stop there, with Rudden finding himself loaned to Dundee in January 2022, for what would be an on-off love affair.
Rudden's debut 2021 - 2022 season at Dundee was riveting. He managed to make 13 first team appearances and even scored a goal. His figures for season 2022 - 2023 were even more hearty, netting five goals in 19 matches. Season 2023 - 2024 was a bit more tepid with two goals in 14 appearances.
Then in a shocking twist, he transferred permanently to Dundee in July 2022, and followed this with loan spells to St Johnstone in January 2023, and Raith Rovers in January 2024. At each club, Rudden, consistent as ever, managed to put on the same old performance: sporadic goals and a reasonable number of appearances.
In July 2024, he transferred to Queen's Park where he had a prolific season by his standards, scoring nine goals over 34 encounters. And finally, in what has been a dizzying spectacle of football's unquenchable thirst for musical chairs, Rudden finds himself at Livingston, from July 2025. His current contribution has been one league appearance. The anticipation for more is palpable.
Livingston must certainly be ecstatic about their latest acquisition, perhaps even more so after Rudden managed to net a goal in the League Cup 2025 - 2026 over four substitute appearances. Ah, the wild and unpredictable nature of football...
