Willie Maley was born on 25 April 1868 in Newry, Ireland. He joined Celtic in 1888, aged 20, as a midfielder. At 29, he became Celtic’s first (and longest serving) manager, going on to win 16 league titles, 14 Scottish Cups, 14 Glasgow Cups and 19 Glasgow Charity Cups in his 43 year tenure.
