Vladimir Weiss, peered out into existence for the first time on the 11th of November, 1989. Weiss, a winger of flexible alignment hailing from Slovakia, finds a home for his football boots at Slovan Bratislava. His stature, a trim 5ft 7in (1.72m), balances his not quite light, not quite too heavy 11st 4lb (72kg) frame. For the devotees, he's the chap in the number 7 jersey.
Seems he's still got some monetary worth, having a market value pocket change away from £250k, but don’t just take my word for it. You can check it yourself on Transfermarkt. As for his tenure at Slovan Bratislava, it's not too long before that ink dries up, his term set to conclude around the 30th of June, 2025.
Back in July 2007, Weiss got his first waft of the arenas at none other than the esteemed Manchester City grounds, served as a trainee before being promoted to first team in the 2008 - 2009 season. His stellar performance can be counted on a single digit – one league appearance.
He then ventured off to Bolton Wanderers on what I can only assume was a soul-searching journey bundled as a loan, in January 2010. His venture bore a tad more fruits with an exciting tally of 13 league match appearances.
Not one to be static, Weiss sought change yet again, finding himself amidst the tartan tapestry of Scotland, playing for Rangers in the 2010 – 2011 season. He did alright, I'd say, cracking the net five times during his 23 seasoned outings.
As unpredictable as a Scottish summer, August of 2011 found Weiss sunning himself in Espanyol, courtesy of yet another loan from Man City. 28 appearances, 3 goals—could be worse, i’d say.
Upon his return, Weiss bid adieu to the English shores, this time for a long-lost love affair with Pescara in Italy. The blokes over there thought him valuable enough to part with £1.5 million. The next season, he justified it by his wee bit successful trip with 22 first team appearances where he's netted four goals.
Just when you think he'd settle, he's off again. Olympiacos in Greece this time, in July 2013. Seventeen times to feature in the first team sheets and four lullabies to the back of the net.
Weiss then fancied a stint in Qatar, with Al-Duhail signing him on for a respectable sum of £4 million in January 2014. The next seasons were par for him, with steady appearances and a commendable share of goals.
Another move within Qatar, this time to Al-Gharafa in January 2016, wrapped in the ever-so-mysterious "undisclosed fee". Neither a word about his feats nor failures were heard of on those dunes.
Like a homing pigeon, Weiss came back to his native soil. His old rocking chair at Slovan Bratislava was still warm, and he held court from February 2020. In the current season, he's donned the first team colours five times so far. Oh, and keep watch for this lad in the Champions League Qualifiers and Conference League, he's got a bit of a knack for goal scoring, it seems.
