Viljami Sinisalo, the Finnish-born footballer, was birthed into the world on the 11th of October in 2001. In his 24 years, he has found his home in the heart of the Celtic goalpost, holding the line for the Bhoys regularly from the sanctum of his number 12 jersey. His 1.96m (6ft 5in) frame and hearty physique of 87kg (13st 9lb) have proven a formidable barrier between the back of the net and the opposition. He is no stranger to football's international stage either, donning Finland's national colours on occasion.
His worth in the realm of football is certainly commendable, with his current market value floating around the £1m mark, according to Transfermarkt.
His journey to the Celtic locker room started off as a trainee at Aston Villa, over in the Premier League in July 2018. From there, he was shuffled off to Scotland, loaned out to Ayr United in the Championship in 2020. A brief return to Aston Villa marked the end of his Scottish stint.
England beckoned again with his move to Burton Albion in the League One, in July 2022, making four first-team appearances. Post his debut season, he was recalled back to Villa, only to be loaned out to Exeter City, again in the League One.
The turn of tide brought him back to Scotland, and more precisely, to a promising post in front of Celtic's goal post. Drawing him in with a fee of around £1m in July 2024, Celtic faithfully let Sinisalo bear their crest. He embraced the opportunity given to him and made six first-team appearances in league matches in his debut season (2024-2025).
As for the present season (2025-2026), Sinisalo has made one first-team appearance in the league so far. His tenure at Celtic also saw him starting twice in the League Cup (2025-2026) and once in the Scottish Cup (2025-2026). Further, his international commitments also saw him starting twice for Finland in the 2024-2026 World Cup Qualifiers Europe.
In essence, Viljami Sinisalo, whilst not a stalwart of the club in traditional terms, has shown a level of commitment and competence that has paced him well amongst the ranks at Celtic.
