Viktor Gyökeres, birthed on the 4th of June, 1998 (age 27), hails from Sweden and plies his trade as a forward, principally as a striker for Sporting CP. Tall of stature, his 1.87m (6ft 1in) frame looms large over opposing defences. Weighing in at 86kg (13st 7lb), his physicality is noteworthy on the pitch, and he proudly sports the number 9 jersey. His skills are recognised not only by his club, but by his homeland as well, as evidenced by his several appearances for the Swedish national team.
Attributed with a market value around the lofty mark of £63.8m (converted from €75.00m), as per Transfermarkt, his agreement with Sporting CP remains valid for another 3 years and 1 month, terminating on the 30th of June, 2028.
In his nascent professional career in the 2015 season with IF Brommapojkarna, back in Sweden, young Gyökeres earned eight slices of first-team football. As the years rolled on, his contribution in front of the goal grew steadily, registering seven goals in a fruitful 2017 season at the same club, in fifteen starts.
Following a switch to the German clime with St. Pauli for the 2019 - 2020 season, he maintained his goal tally with seven goals in 26 outings. A further venture into British football with spells at Swansea City in the 2020 - 2021 season and Coventry City over the next two seasons saw him net a bountiful 41 goals across 121 combined appearances.
His prolific spell in the English game was followed by a move to Sporting CP in the Portuguese league for the 2023 - 2024 season where he has been nothing short of phenomenal – firing the ball into the net 68 times in just 66 appearances thus far.
Furthermore, his performances on the international stage and in continental club competitions have been commendable. He scored three goals in the Euro Qualifiers (2022 - 2024) for Sweden. His successful Europa League (2023 - 2024) stint with Sporting CP resulted in five goals, and, more recently, he found the back of the net nine times for Sweden in the Nations League (2024 - 2025).
