Tony Warner, an English goalkeeper, was born on 11 May 1974. He stands tall at 6ft 3in (1.92m) and weighs in at 16st (102kg). Warner started his career in 1991 as a trainee at Liverpool, a leading club in the English Premier League. However, first team football evaded him and in 1997, he was loaned off to Swindon Town, a League Two side. The short stint saw Warner only making 2 league appearances.
In November 1998, Warner was loaned out to Celtic, an opportunity for him to experience Scottish Premiership football. He made an humble contribution of 3 league appearances for Celtic, before being shipped off to Aberdeen on loan within the same season. His run at Aberdeen was more proactive, resulting in 6 first team league appearances.
Warner's greater success came when he transferred to Millwall in 1999 where he made a significant number of league performances over five seasons. His tenure included seasons such as 1999-2000 and 2002-2003, where he made as many as 46 first team appearances.
Subsequent years saw Warner experiencing varying degrees of success at numerous clubs including Cardiff City, Fulham, Leeds United, Norwich City, and Barnsley. Warner's time at Fulham was interrupted with various loans, one of which included a rather interesting journey to Leeds United where he not only made 13 first team appearances, but also managed to net a goal, a rarity for a goalkeeper.
An attempt to find his feet later in his career, led Warner to move further down the football pyramid. His adventurous path took him to clubs like Charlton Athletic, Scunthorpe United, Tranmere Rovers, Wellington Phoenix and even as far as Malta with Floriana.
In the twilight of his career, Warner's ventures saw him return to England with stints at Accrington Stanley. And like the familiar journeyman he became, his final steps in the beautiful game saw him at numerous clubs, the identities of which remain in the shadows.
While Warner's time at Celtic might have been brief, it represented part of the winding journey of a man navigating the challenges of football, darting between clubs and countries in an enduring quest for his place in the game.
