Simon Murray, born on the 15th of March 1992, is a Scottish striker currently plying his trade for Dundee FC. Standing at a height of 5ft 11in (1.82m) and weighing in at 11st (70kg), Murray has become a recognisable figure on the pitch, often seen sprinting around in the number 15 jersey. His market value, according to Transfermarkt, is estimated to be around £90k.
Murray's professional football career embarked upon in July 2010, when he joined League One side Montrose, marking his debut season with a solitary appearance. He then transferred to Tayport, a team in Scotland's Junior leagues, in January 2011.
Fast-forward to July 2014, Murray made a significant leap to Arbroath in the Scottish Championship, making a statement by scoring 19 goals in 35 appearances. His spell at Arbroath paved way for a transfer to Dundee United, a Premiership side, in July 2015. The transfer was sealed for a sum of around £45k.
His stint at Dundee United saw him making a total of 54 appearances across two seasons, scoring 17 goals. July 2017 marked yet another move for Murray, this time to Premiership outfit Hibernian. He managed to bag six goals in 22 appearances throughout the 2017-2018 season.
Midway through the season, Murray went out on loan to Dundee, where he notched three goals in 14 appearances in his first outing for the club during the latter half of the 2017-2018 season. He returned to Dundee for subsequent seasons, registering a total of 65 appearances and netting 22 goals so far.
Murray also had a short spell abroad, signing for Bidvest Wits in South Africa's First Division in July 2018, for a fee of around £135k, only to return to the Scottish Championship with Queen's Park in September 2020. Following a one and a half season stint at Ross County, he rejoined Dundee in July 2024.
Beyond his league contributions, Murray has also demonstrated his proficiency in cup competitions. In the 2025-2026 season, he scored two goals in four starts for Dundee in the League Cup, and also got game time in the Scottish Cup, making one start and one substitute appearance.
