Shin Yamada, a Japanese-born footballer with a penchant for the striker's role, was born on the 30th of May, 2000. Currently 25 years of age, Yamada now finds his home in Preussen Munster, donning the number 9 jersey with pride. Standing at a modest 5ft 8in (1.75m) tall and tipping the scales at 11st 11lb (75kg), Shin Yamada isn't the most physically imposing on the pitch, but his value as a player cannot be solely defined by his physique. He has even had the honour of representing his native Japan on an international level.
According to Transfermarkt, Yamada's current market value is reported to be around the £1m mark - further reinforcing his value as a player. The twenty-five-year-old striker began his professional journey at Kawasaki Frontale in the J1 League, Japan in January 2023. He had a somewhat mixed stint with the club, from his debut season until 2025, scoring 25 goals in 86 matches.
Yamada's exploits in Japan did not go unnoticed. In July of 2025, he secured a move to Celtic in Scotland's Premiership, the fee around about the £1.5m mark. His time at Celtic was, however, rather brief. Despite having only made eight league appearances, the promise Yamada demonstrated was undoubted. Yamada's Celtic stint, no matter how short, is a testament to his talent and ability.
In a surprising move, Yamada found himself relocating to Germany, signing on loan with Preussen Munster in the 2. Bundesliga in January 2026. Yet the change in location doesn't seem to have fazed him, a fact backed up by his five first team appearances in league matches. Yamada's journey is a fascinating one and indicates a future full of potential, firmly establishing him as a player to watch.
