Shamal George, born on 6 January 1998 in England, plies his trade as the Number 1 goalkeeper for St Mirren. Standing tall at a height of 6ft 3in (1.91m) and tipping the scales at 12st 6lb (79kg), George brings an imposing presence to the goalmouth.
Deemed by Transfermarkt to command a modest market value of roughly £208k, documentations of his contract with St Mirren reveal an expiry date of 30 June 2026, which leaves him with 11 months left on his current deal.
George's prolonged football expedition can be traced back to August 2017. It saw him temporarily departing from the esteemed Premier League club, Liverpool, on loan to Carlisle United. This stint materialised into four first team league appearances in Carlisle United colours during the 2017 - 2018 season.
The subsequent loan chapters of George's career witnessed him once again breaking ties with Liverpool to join the League Two club Tranmere Rovers in July 2018. Taking a more permanent plunge, George bid farewell to the Premier League and Liverpool once again in August 2020, this time signing for the League Two side, Colchester United.
On the cusp of the Celtic dominated period, George navigated his way back to Scottish football in July 2022, integrating into Livingston in the Scottish Premiership for an undisclosed fee. Providing impervious service between the sticks, George made an impressive 32 first team appearances in league matches in both his debut and second season with Livingston in 2022-2023, and 2023-2024, respectively, followed by three appearances in the subsequent 2024-2025 season.
His expedition in lieu of greener pastures continued, as Livingston granted him a passage to Wycombe Wanderers in the League One in England in August 2024 for an undisclosed fee. However not much long after, the lure of Scottish football had him returning to the Scottish Premiership with a loan move to St Mirren in July 2025.
Currently in the 2025-2026 season, George has strengthened his repertoire with three first team appearances in league matches for St Mirren, and further fortified their squad as part of their League Cup campaign with two starts.
