Scott Tanser, born on 23 October 1994, is an English born defender known for his ability as a left back. At the age of 30, Tanser stands tall at 5 feet 11 inches (1.81m) and carries a sturdy frame of 11st 2lb (71kg). Currently, you can see him don the number 3 jersey for St Mirren.
Tanser began his professional football journey with Rochdale, a club in England's National League, in July 2012. His first season (2012-13) at Rochdale may not have been the most remarkable, with only one first team appearance in league matches. However, he found his footing over the subsequent years, notably in the 2014-15 season where Tanser made 30 first team appearances and netted one goal. However, both the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons saw a reduction in his playtime, only making 7 and 5 appearances respectively.
In January 2017, Tanser bid farewell to Rochdale and transferred to Port Vale, another English Club, but in the League One this time. Here, Tanser chalked up 11 first team appearances for the remaining 2016-2017 season.
Tanser's career took a turn north as he was transferred from Port Vale to St Johnstone in Scotland's Championship league in July 2017. Over the course of four seasons, from 2017 to 2021, Tanser's influence at St Johnstone was palpable. He made 29 appearances in his first season (2017-18), followed by an impressive 37 appearances and 3 goals (2018-19), and further 21 appearances (2019-20). In his final year at the club, he had clocked 30 appearances and 2 goals in the 2020-21 season.
In July 2021, Tanser made the switch from St Johnstone to another Scottish Premiership side, St Mirren. His first four seasons (2021-2025) at St Mirren saw him maintain a fairly consistent presence on the pitch, with 31, 30, 38, and 29 appearances respectively, coupled with a total of 5 goals over this period. Currently, in the 2025-2026 season, Tanser is yet to make an appearance for St Mirren.
In addition to his league performances, Tanser has also participated in the League Cup 2025-2026 for St Mirren with two starts and one appearance as a substitute, and the Scottish Cup 2024-2025 for St Mirren with one start.
