Scott Bain, born in Edinburgh on 22 November 1991 (age 34), is a Scottish goalkeeper now with Falkirk, wearing squad number 29. His early senior development included a loan spell at Elgin City in 2010-11, where he made 11 league appearances, the sort of useful lower-league grounding that tends to strip away any nonsense quickly enough.
He later had a spell with Falkirk before establishing himself more fully at Dundee. That period gave him the platform for his move to Celtic in January 2018, when he joined from Dundee and became part of a squad built to win rather than merely survive.
At Celtic, Bain’s role shifted between starter, back-up and reliable squad goalkeeper, but he was around for a considerable run of success. He won six Premiership titles, four League Cups and four Scottish Cups with the club, as well as being part of Celtic sides that finished runners-up in two Scottish Cups and one Premiership. It was not always a front-of-house role, but it was a long and useful one.
Bain left Celtic in July 2025 for Falkirk. In 2025-26 he has remained a regular first-team presence, making 32 league appearances and four more in the Scottish Cup, for 36 appearances across all competitions. His current market value is around £85,000, according to Transfermarkt.
His career has taken him from early loan football through Dundee, Celtic’s trophy-heavy years, and back to Falkirk as an experienced senior goalkeeper. It is a solid Scottish career, shaped by patience, timing and a fair amount of being ready when required.
