Scott Bain, born in Edinburgh on 22 November 1991 (age 34), is a Scottish goalkeeper whose career has taken him from early senior football into a long Celtic spell and, now, back into regular first-team work with Falkirk.
His development was helped by early football away from the bigger glare, including a 2010-2011 league season at Elgin City in which he made 11 appearances. Those years mattered. Goalkeepers do not tend to arrive fully formed, whatever the brochure says, and Bain’s route through Falkirk and then Dundee gave him the senior grounding that later put him on Celtic’s radar.
Celtic signed him from Dundee in January 2018. He became part of a highly successful period at the club, winning six Premiership titles, four League Cups and four Scottish Cups. He was not always the central figure in that run, but he was a reliable squad goalkeeper across several demanding seasons, which is a less glamorous job than some imagine and usually more useful than they admit.
Bain left Celtic for Falkirk in July 2025. In 2025-2026, wearing squad number 29, he has been a regular presence, with 32 league appearances, three League Cup appearances and four in the Scottish Cup, making 39 appearances in all competitions. His current market value is around £85,000, according to Transfermarkt.
His career has moved through Elgin City, Falkirk, Dundee, Celtic and back to Falkirk, with the Celtic years bringing the medals and the later Falkirk spell bringing regular football again.
