Sam Nicholson, born on the 20th of January 1995 in Scotland, is a 29-year-old forward. He primarily plays as a right-winger for Motherwell, sporting the number 19 jersey. Standing at 5ft 8in (1.75m) and weighing in at 11st 2lb (71kg), Nicholson cuts an impressive figure on the field.

His career began in July 2011 with Hearts in the Scottish Premiership, straight out of the trainee pool. His maiden season in 2013-2014 saw him take to the pitch 25 times, netting two goals. The 2014-2015 season ramped up both his appearances and his scoring with 29 appearances and five goals. In the 2015-2016 season, he made 36 appearances with three goals to his name and his last season with Hearts in 2016-2017 saw him scoring four goals in 19 matches.
Nicholson bid Scotland adieu in July 2017, transferring from Hearts to Minnesota United in the USA's MLS. His stint with Minnesota was short-lived, over the two seasons in 2017 and 2018 he made a total of 20 appearances with two goals. Furthering his adventures in the MLS, he transferred to Colorado Rapids in May 2018. Nicholson put in 85 appearances over the course of four seasons, netting six goals.
July 2020 saw his return to the UK, signing a contract with Bristol Rovers in England's League One. However, within two years he was back across the pond, returning to Colorado Rapids in July 2022.
Nicholson finally returned to his homeland in January 2024, signing with Motherwell in the Premiership. In the half-season since his signing, he has made 16 first-team appearances, scoring two goals in the 2023-2024 season. In the current season, 2024-2025, Nicholson has already stepped onto the pitch three times.
