Sam Dalby, born on the 17th of January 2000, is an English striker currently plying his trade with Dundee United in Scotland. Standing at 6ft 3in (1.91m) tall and weighing in at a healthy 12st 3lb (78kg), Dalby certainly brings a physical presence to the pitch. He's instantly recognisable out on the field, wearing the number 19 jersey. His current market value is estimated to be around £235k, according to Transfermarkt. At present, it's known that his contract with Dundee United is due to expire at the end of May 2025.
Dalby began his professional journey with Leyton Orient in England's League One, first joining the club as a trainee in July 2015. In the 2016/2017 season, he made a total of 16 first team appearances and netted once. The following season, his playing time was less significant, taking to the field just twice in league matches.
In a somewhat surprising move, Dalby transferred to Leeds United, then in the Championship, in January 2018. Unfortunately, the exact financials of the move remain unknown. His tenure at Leeds was short-lived, and he was dispatched on loan to Morecambe in England's League Two in January 2019. Later, in July of the same year, he was sold to Championship side, Watford, again for an undisclosed fee.
From February to March 2021, he spent time on loan with both Stockport County and Woking. After the conclusion of these loans, Dalby made the move to Southend United in the National League in England. This journeyman footballer continued his travels, moving to Wrexham in League One in August 2022 for an undisclosed fee. During the 2022/2023 season, he featured in 32 first team games and managed to find the back of the net five times.
Most recently, in August 2024, Dalby transferred to Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership, this time on loan. So far, in the current 2024/2025 season, he has flourished under the Scottish skies, making 23 first team appearances and scoring a commendable 11 goals. He has also participated in the 2024/2025 League Cup and Scottish Cup for Dundee United, coming off the bench once in the former and starting a match in the latter.
