Sam Curtis, born 1 December 2005, hails from the Republic of Ireland and currently plies his trade as a defender, more specifically a right back, for St Johnstone. Standing at a height of roughly 6ft (1.85m) and weighing in at around 11st 13lb (76kg), the Irishman is easily recognisable on the pitch sporting the number 37 jersey.
As of now, Curtis's market value sits approximately at £150k, a estimation cited by Transfermarkt. Time is ticking down on his current contract with St Johnstone, which is poised to expire on the 31st of May, 2025, a mere 2 months time.
Curtis's football journey has seen him hop across multiple clubs. Funnily enough, his career kicked-off in his homeland with Shamrock Rovers in the Premier Division, before making the switch to St. Patrick's Athletic, also in the Premier Division, in July 2021 for an undisclosed fee. In his 2021 debut season at St. Patrick's Athletic, he saw relatively little game time, making a solitary appearance in league matches. However, opportunities were aplenty in the following season, where Curtis played in 18 league matches.
His form took off in the 2023 season where as well as making 34 appearances, he also managed to find the back of the net on three occasions. His performances did not go unnoticed, with Championship club Sheffield United taking him onboard in January 2024, once again for an undisclosed fee. In the same 2023/2024 season at Sheffield United, he made his mark once in the first team's league fixtures.
Following his brief stint at Sheffield, Curtis was loaned out to Peterborough United in the League One in August 2024. But before the curtains were drawn on the year, he made his return to Sheffield on loan completion in January 2025. This meant that he was once again turning out in the Championship, yet only made one first team appearance.
His journey did not stop here; hopping across the border to try his luck in Scotland was the next step. Still in the 2025 January transfer window, Curtis geared up at St Johnstone in the Premiership, albeit on loan. In the current season, he has notched up ten first team appearances in league matches. Also, featuring prominently in the Scottish Cup 2024/2025 for St Johnstone, he got the nod to start four times.
