Ryan Shanley, a forward making his mark predominantly as a striker, was born on the 16th of January, 2001, which as of now makes him 23 years old. His football journey has led him all over Scotland, but currently finds him plying his trade for Falkirk. Shanley is a player of some presence, standing at six feet one inch, or if you prefer the metric system, 1.86 metres. Weighing in at 11st 11lb, (75kg), he can certainly hold his own on the pitch and he brandishes the number 19 on his jersey.
With his contract at Falkirk set to expire on the 31st of May 2025, he has a mere eight months left to run. His early career saw a flurry of loan moves, and a pattern of transferring and returning. In January of 2020, Shanley transferred from Hibernian in Scotland's Premiership to Forfar Athletic in League Two, a lower division of Scottish football. Six months later, he returned to Hibernian from Forfar Athletic.
His 2020 - 2021 season at Hibernian resulted in only one first team appearance in league matches. However, that didn't deter him and he found himself on loan again in December of the same year, this time heading to Kelty Hearts in League One. He didn't stay long with the Hearts though, and within a month he returned again to Hibernian.
Not one to rest on his laurels, Shanley was soon on the move for another loan stint, this time crossing borders to play for Finn Harps in the First Division of the Republic of Ireland where he made seven first-team appearances. He returned to the Scottish leagues in July of 2021, finding himself on loan at Edinburgh City in League Two.
In the 2022 - 2023 season, Shanley made 22 first-team appearances for Edinburgh City, scoring six goals in the process. In September of 2021, his transfer from Hibernian was made permanent and he continued to play for Edinburgh City. The 2024 - 2025 season saw another move, this time to Championship side Falkirk, where he has so far made seven appearances in the current league season.
In addition to his league exploits, Shanley has also featured in the League Cup for Falkirk in the 2024 - 2025 season, where he found the back of the net once in five appearances as a substitute.
