Ryan Edwards, born on 7 October 1993 in England, is a sturdy defender best known for his roles as a centre half. Currently, Edwards is attached to Falkirk, sporting the number 25 jersey. Standing at 1.93m (6ft 3in) and weighing 90kg (14st 2lb), Edwards certainly casts an imposing silhouette on the pitch.
Edwards began his footballing journey with Blackburn Rovers in the Championship league, from where he was loaned out to Rochdale in the National League in July 2012. His debut season 2012 - 2013 with Rochdale was promising, as he clocked up 26 first team appearances in league matches.
In February 2013, Edwards was again loaned out, this time to Fleetwood Town in the League Two. His stint at Fleetwood wasn't long, however it allowed him a further nine first team appearances before the end of the season. Edwards was then loaned out to Chesterfield in the League Two, and then again to Tranmere Rovers, although both spells offered fewer opportunities for first team action.
In an interesting turn of events, Edwards found himself moving from Blackburn Rovers to Morecambe in the National League in March 2014, initially on loan. During the 2013 - 2014 season, he made nine first team appearances. As the seasons continued, Edwards' role at Morecambe became increasingly significant - in the 2016 - 2017 season, Edwards made 43 first team appearances and scored two goals.
After transitioning from a loan to a permanent player at Morecambe, Edwards moved to Plymouth Argyle in the League One for an undisclosed fee in July 2017. Plymouth Argyle gave Edwards plenty of first team action. During the 2017 - 2018 season, he made 25 first team appearances and scored three goals.
A few years later, in July 2019, Edwards moved from Plymouth Argyle to Blackpool in the League One. After a spell at Blackpool, and after staying with the club for a year, Edwards made a significant move north of the border to Dundee United in Scotland.
Edwards' tenure at Dundee United certainly saw regular first team action. While at Dundee United, Edwards scored two goals from 24 matches in the 2020 - 2021 season, followed up by four goals from 36 appearances in the 2021 - 2022 season. The next season, Edwards managed 32 first team appearances. Despite the club's varying fortunes, Edwards was a constant in the first team.
Intriguingly, Edwards's next move was to Chennaiyin in the Indian Super League in September 2023. His stint in India didn't last long, though, as he returned to Scotland signing for Falkirk in November 2025. Currently, in the 2025 - 2026 season, Edwards has made four first team appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Falkirk.
