Rory Whittaker, a lad born in Scotland on the 10th of August 2007, is just 17. This young chap functions best as a right-back for Hibernian. He's not much to look at, standing at 5ft 10in and weighing around 10st 12lb. Still, the lad wears the number 42 with some pride, even if it's hardly a marquee position.
Despite his tender years, Rory was given a run out in the Scottish Cup of 2023-24. Interestingly, it seems he only managed a single start in the competition. Not the most impressive record, but he's got time on his side.
In his inaugural season with Hibernian, in 2023-24, he managed to get his foot in the door with 11 first-team appearances. That, it has to be said, isn't half-bad for a greenhorn. But as we steam into the 2024-25 season, there are a few concerns. Not a single first-team appearance so far. One hopes for the lad's sake, it's merely a dry spell and not a statement of his future in the game.
