Rocky Bushiri, a defender born on 30 November 1999 in Belgium, currently shows his prowess in the Scottish Premiership side, Hibernian. The robust centre-back, standing tall at 6ft 1in (1.87m) and weighing 13st 12lbs (88kg), proudly dons the number 33. In addition to his club commitments, he has also been capped for the DR Congo national team.
Bushiri's journey began in 2016 when he joined Belgium's Derde Klasse side, Oostende, as a trainee. He made his first two appearances in league matches during the 2017-2018 season. In August 2018, however, he was loaned out to Eupen in the Challenger Pro League also in Belgium where he appeared 23 times.
The year 2019 marked another significant step in Bushiri's career, as he transferred from Oostende to Norwich City in the Championship. Yet, his stint with Norwich was interspersed by several loan spells. Notably, he made his way to Blackpool in England's League One and later to Belgium's Pro League side, Sint-Truiden, where he made seven appearances in the 2019-2020 season. A loan move, again to a Pro League team, this time Mechelen marked his season 2020-2021, where he was seen six times on the field.
The year 2021 witnessed Bushiri's return to Eupen, once again on loan from Norwich City. His contributions were limited to one appearance during the 2020-2021 season. However, in January 2022, Bushiri's path led him closer to Hibernian in Scotland's Premiership, initially on loan but later a permanent transfer in July 2022.
Bushiri has been a regular feature in the Hibernian squad since his arrival. From the 2021-2022 season onwards, the defender has made 96 appearances in the league matches alone, scoring five goals in the process. He impressively appeared 28 times and netted three goals in the 2024-2025 season alone. He continues to demonstrate his prowess in the 2025-2026 season with 12 appearances and two goals so far.
In addition to his league contributions, Bushiri's performances have been significant in various other tournaments. He has seen action in the League Cup 2025-2026 for Hibernian with one start, the Scottish Cup 2024-2025 for Hibernian scoring one goal in three starts, and the World Cup Qualifiers Africa 2024-2026 for DR Congo with two starts. His assertive presence was also felt in the Europa League and Conference League Qualifiers 2025-2026 for Hibernian, where he scored one goal in two starts and four starts respectively.
