Robbie Keane, born 8 July 1980 in the Republic of Ireland, was a sublime forward who primarily operated in the role of a striker. He stands at the respectable height of 1.8m (5ft 10in) and weighs about 79kg (12st 6lb).
In July 1997, Keane kicked off his professional career, joining Wolverhampton Wanderers in England's Premier League as a trainee. He displayed substantial promise and potential during his tenure at Wolverhampton, scoring 11 goals in 38 first team appearances in his debut season (1997 - 1998).
In August 1999, Keane moved from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Coventry City for a fee around £6m. He made a fairly good impression during his stint at Coventry City, bagging 12 goals in 31 first team appearances (1999 - 2000).
July 2000 saw Keane make a gargantuan leap in his career when he transferred from Coventry City in England to Inter Milan in the Serie A in Italy for around £13m. Keane's time at Inter Milan was short-lived, making just six league appearances.
In December of the same year, Keane transferred from Inter Milan to Leeds United on loan, where he scored 13 goals in 46 league appearances during his tenure. In 2001 Keane's transfer from Inter Milan to Leeds was made permanent for around £12m.
Keane's career path then led him to Tottenham Hotspur in August 2002, as he was transferred for £7m. He spent almost six years there, scoring 131 goals in a stunning 229 league appearances.
In July 2008, Keane was transferred to Liverpool for a massive £20m. However, he didn't make a significant impact, scoring just five goals in 19 league appearances (2008 - 2009). Later he was transferred back to Tottenham Hotspur for around £12m in February 2009.
In February 2010, Keane was loaned to Celtic, where he made a significant impression, scoring a noticeable 12 goals in a mere 16 league appearances. In merely half a season, Keane quickly became a fan favourite, demonstrating a consistent performance only to return to Tottenham Hotspur at the end of his loan period in July 2010.
In 2011, he moved to West Ham United on loan, following which he made the significant move from England to USA's LA Galaxy. Here, Keane left quite a remarkable footprint, having scored 83 goals in 125 league appearances. He also had a brief loan spell at Aston Villa during his stint at LA Galaxy.
Keane's professional career seemed to have concluded in LA Galaxy, as he transferred from there in November 2016. His career, shining brightly in club football and international stages, is one that will surely be remembered for decades to come.
