Rio Shipston, born on 11 July 2004, is a 20-year old English footballer currently plying his trade in midfield for Cork City. Often fielded in a central position, Shipston stands a slight 5ft 8in (1.75m) tall and weighs in at 11st (70kg).
His tenure at Cork City, however, is nearing its conclusion with his contract set to expire on 30 June 2025. As it stands, he has but a single month left with the side.
Casting our eyes back to July 2021, Shipston joined Championship side Sheffield Wednesday. Despite his debut season in 2022 - 2023, he only made a scarce two appearances in league fixtures for the first team.
Interestingly, it appears that he made a somewhat sideways move in January 2023, transferring from Sheffield Wednesday's U21 squad in the PDL 2, to their Championship team, where he once again had a seemingly quiet season with just two first team appearances.
Arriving to our current year of 2025, Shipston has since left the English game, transferring from Sheffield Wednesday to Cork City in the Premier Division of the Republic of Ireland. This move, it should be noted, was completed on a loan basis.
For the remainder of the 2025 season, Cork City in the Republic of Ireland will be the club to witness Shipston's exploits from the midfield.
