Richard Taylor, born on 2 October 2000 in England, now aged 24, is a solid defender who takes up the position of a central defender for St Mirren. Standing tall at 6ft 2in (1.89m) and weighing in at a sturdy 13st (83kg), Richard is an imposing figure on the pitch. He currently sports the number 5 jersey for his team.
Richard's early career saw him moving through a variety of clubs within England. In July 2019, he transferred from Burnley who compete in England's Championship to Southend United in the National League. In February 2021, he was loaned from Southend United to Barnet, another National League club, before returning to Southend United upon completion of his loan in March 2021. Remaining in England's National League, Richard made an unexpected turn and joined Dagenham & Redbridge in November 2021.
In January 2022, Richard ventured internationally, transferring from Dagenham & Redbridge to Waterford in the Premier Division in Rep. Ireland. His debut 2022 season with Waterford saw him making a solid 28 first team appearances with a single goal tally in league matches.
Richard made the move to St Mirren in the Premiership in Scotland in January 2023. His record at St Mirren is quite remarkable. For the 2022 - 2023 season, Richard made 11 first team appearances in league matches and he upped his game for the 2023 - 2024 season, making 26 league appearances. In the current 2024 - 2025 season, he has outdone himself yet again, featuring in 34 league matches, and finding the back of the net twice in those appearances.
In the prestigious League Cup 2024 - 2025 for St Mirren, Richard had one appearance as a substitute. He also made an appearance in the Scottish Cup 2024 - 2025 for St Mirren, starting in a game and also coming in as a substitute in another. In the Conference League Qualifiers 2024 - 2025 for St Mirren, he played in four matches from the start. These matches were important parts of an exemplary football journey, one that goes on.
