Ramy Bensebaini, born on 16 April 1995 (age 31), is an Algeria international left-back with Borussia Dortmund. His market value is around £6m, according to Transfermarkt.
He came through Paradou AC in Algeria before early loan spells in Europe helped harden him up. Lierse in Belgium and Montpellier in France gave him useful first-team exposure, and that route eventually took him into the French game on a firmer footing with Rennes.
Bensebaini’s move to Borussia Monchengladbach gave him his most productive league spell. The 2022-2023 season was his best in front of goal, with six goals in 28 league appearances – a decent return for a left-back, even allowing for his set-piece involvement.
He later joined Borussia Dortmund, where he has remained part of the first-team picture into 2026-2027. This season he has made seven appearances for Dortmund across competitions, including two in the Bundesliga and one in the DFL-Supercup, while also continuing to feature for Algeria in World Cup and African qualifying fixtures.
Bensebaini’s career has been built steadily rather than spectacularly: Algeria, Belgium, France and then Germany, with enough durability and experience to keep him relevant at a demanding club like Dortmund.
