Paul McGinn, a Scottish defender born on 22 October 1990, presently goes to work in the heart of Motherwell’s defence. McGinn’s footballing journey began in July 2008 at Queen's Park, based in Scotland’s Championship division. His early years were spent mainly learning the ropes, with limited first team appearances; however, his presence gradually grew, with a more regular place in the team by the 2010 - 2011 season.
In September 2012, he departed Queen's Park to join St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership, where he went on to consolidate his defensive skills over two seasons. The 2019 - 2020 season saw him add offensive contributions to his game, netting three goals that season.
A temporal loan spell saw him return to Queen's Park in November 2012 after a transfer from St Mirren. He seemed to treat the return as a sort of homecoming, showing a strong work ethic on his second stint at Queen's Park.
Next stop in his journey was Dumbarton, first on loan in January 2013, which later turned into a permanent move in July of the same year. His two seasons at Dumbarton were noteworthy for his resolute performances.

The defender made a cross-border move in July 2016, joining Chesterfield, a League Two side in England, but returned home the following year, moving to Partick Thistle in the Scottish Championship.
After a year, he returned to St. Mirren – a move that ultimately saw his defensive abilities truly flourish, leading to a transfer to Hibernian in January 2020.
In his time at Hibernian, McGinn contributed not just defensively, but also found the back of the net six times across three seasons. This prompted Motherwell to return him to the Premiership in July 2022, where he continues to uphold the claret and amber colours of Motherwell with pride. His current season has seen him continue his scoring touch, netting one goal thus far.
