Born in Scotland on the 7th of August, 1969, the Celtic hero Paul Lambert holds an illustrious record as a relentless force in the midfield. Standing at 5 ft 10 in (1.8m) and weighing 10 st 9 lb (68 kg), Lambert leveraged his physique to command the pitch, and certainly etched his name in the annals of Celtic annals.
The player's career took off as a spry trainee for St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership, in July 1985. From season '85 to '86, Lambert gradually climbed up the ranks, making his first team league appearance. His noticeable performances over the next seasons -- '86 to '93 -- saw him consistently finding his place in the first team, with an impressive record of netting goals.
In September 1993, Lambert's journey took him from St Mirren to Motherwell, another imposing entity in the Scottish Premiership. The transfer deal was sealed for a sum close to £200k. At Motherwell, between the seasons '93 - '96, Lambert continued to impress. He was regular for the first team and even managed to score a few.
The lure of foreign shores took Lambert to Borussia Dortmund in Germany's Bundesliga in July 1996. His time in Dortmund saw him consistently being selected for the first team, making a mark in numerous league matches across two seasons.
Come November 1997, Lambert returned home, transferring from Dortmund to Celtic for a fee believed to be around the region of £1.8 million. Lambert's time at Celtic was nothing short of splendid. He was a regular feature in the playing eleven across seasons '97 to '05, carving a niche for himself in the heart of Celtic fans with his work-rate and goalscoring prowess.
Post Celtic, Lambert moved to Livingston in the Scottish Championship in July 2005. Despite his limited appearances during the 2005-2006 season, Lambert's contributions were recognised and appreciated. His transfer in February 2006 marked the end of an illustrious in-game career, leaving behind a legacy that would inspire many for years to come.
