Patrick Roberts, born in Kingston upon Thames on 5 February 1997 (age 29), is an English right-sided winger for Birmingham City. A compact player at 5ft 6in (1.67m), he has spent much of his career as the sort of wide forward asked to make something happen in tight spaces rather than look tidy from a safe distance.
He arrived at Celtic in February 2016 from Manchester City, and that loan spell did more for his development than sitting around waiting for minutes in England would have done. His best league season came at Celtic in 2016-17, when he scored nine goals in 32 league appearances. It was a productive period, and not one Celtic supporters needed much persuading about at the time.
Roberts is now with Birmingham City, wearing the No 27 shirt, and remains a regular first-team presence in 2025-26. He has made 35 Championship appearances this season, scoring four times, with a further goal in the FA Cup. Across all competitions for Birmingham, he has 38 appearances and five goals.
His current market value is around £4.5m, according to Transfermarkt. His career has moved from Manchester City promise, through an important Celtic loan, to regular football at Birmingham, where he is still involved week to week.
