Pascal Groß, born on 15 June 1991 (age 35), is a German midfielder whose career has never quite fitted the usual defensive template. Primarily used as a central defensive midfielder, he has built much of his value on his use of the ball and an unusual goal return for a player operating from deeper areas.
His most productive league season came with Brighton & Hove Albion in 2022-2023, when he scored nine goals in 37 appearances. That is a serious return from his area of the pitch, and it explains why he has remained more than just a neat passer in Brighton’s midfield structure.
Groß has continued to matter in 2025-2026. He made 11 league appearances for Borussia Dortmund before adding 19 league appearances, with one goal, for Brighton & Hove Albion. He has also stayed in the Germany picture, making one appearance in European World Cup qualifying this season.
Now wearing squad number 30, Groß is valued at around £7m, according to Transfermarkt. His career has been shaped by reliability, technical use from deeper positions, and a scoring record that remains unusually strong for a player with so much defensive responsibility.
