In the 2017 - 2018 and 2018 - 2019 seasons with AZ, Wijndal made seven and eight appearances respectively. 2019 turned to be a breakthrough year for Wijndal, making 24 appearances and scoring his first league match goal. However, just a year later, Wijndal was loaned out to Royal Antwerp in Belgium for the 2023 - 2024 season where he continued to flourish, making 20 appearances and scoring a goal.
Upon completion of his loan period in 2024, he returned to Ajax where he has since had inconsistent playing time with 20, two and ten first team appearances in the seasons following his return. Despite reduced match appearances, Wijndal was nonetheless part of Ajax's 2024 - 2025 Europa League campaign with three appearances as a substitute.
