Osaze Urhoghide, born on July 4, 2000, in the Netherlands, is a hardy centre-back currently putting his defensive skills to use for French squad, Amiens. Standing at 6ft 2in (1.88m) and boasting a formidable frame of 12st 8lb (80kg), he graces the field in the number 5 jersey.
Urhoghide's football odyssey began with AFC Wimbledon in England's League Two. Fresh out of the academy in July 2017, his potential was quickly recognised and he was given the chance to hone his skills amidst the rigours of competitive football.
In 2019, Urhoghide embarked on a new adventure, relocating to Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship. He made his mark during the 2019 - 2020 season by appearing thrice in first-team league matches, and followed it up with a stronger display in the next season where he appeared on 16 occasions.
Urhoghide’s performance caught the eye of Celtic and in July 2021, he made the journey north of the border to Scotland, signing for the Glasgow club for an undisclosed fee.
Early in 2022, Urhoghide's Celtic journey was briefly interrupted when he was loaned to Belgian third-tier club Oostende. Proving his mettle in a different football environment, he made 7 appearances in the 2021-2022 season and upped the ante with 27 appearances the following season.
However, Urhoghide’s tenure with Celtic would be short-lived. In July 2023, he transferred to the French team Amiens, also for an undisclosed fee. He has been steadily proving his worth in the French second-tier league, tallying 18 appearances in the 2023-2024 season, while in the current 2024-2025 season, he’s made six appearances so far and even managed to find the back of the net.
In summary, Urhoghide's determined ascendancy in football evinces a player of not just considerable physical presence, but also someone who has consistently risen to the challenges of the various leagues he's been in – from England's lower leagues, through Scotland's top tier, and now into the competitive world of French football.
