Nir Bitton, an Israeli-born defender, is currently plying his trade at Maccabi Tel Aviv. The 6ft 5in (1.96m) central defender, weighing 12st 8lb (80kg) and wearing the number 55 jersey, was born on 30 October 1991, making him 32 years old.
Bitton's professional football journey started in July 1997 when he signed up as a trainee at FC Ashdod in the Premier League in Israel. His debut season (2009-2010) saw him making 21 appearances and scoring one goal. His stint at the Israeli club would see him record 122 appearances and 14 goals till the end of the 2012-2013 season.
In August of 2013, Bitton was roped in by Celtic for a transfer fee just shy of £700,000. Bitton's tenure at Celtic was quite prolific. He made his Celtic debut in the 2013-2014 season, making a fairly modest appearance count of 15 games in Celtic colours. However, this number promptly picked up in consequent seasons. Between 2014-2021, Bitton amassed 127 league appearances and contributed nine goals from the heart of the defence.
In July 2022, Bitton made the switch from the Scottish Premiership back to his homeland, signing for Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Israeli Premier League. As of the current 2024-2025 season, the experienced defender has made one league appearance. His European experience hasn't been neglected either, having made four appearances in the Europa League and Conference League qualifiers for Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Throughout his career, Nir Bitton's height, strength, and solid presence as a central defender have provided a reliable foundation for the teams he's been part of. He continues to shore up the defence in his ongoing tenure with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
