Well now, ladies and gents, let us enlighten you about Nedim Bajrami, born way back when on the 28th February 1999 in Macedonia. At the tender age of 26, this strapping midfielder stands tall at 5ft 10in (1.79 metres), and maintains a sturdy 10st 9lb (68kg) weight. He’s taken to wearing the number 14 jersey for Rangers, who by a quirk of fate, happen to play their footie in the central midfield just as he does. Without a whole lot of surprising info, it's worth mentioning he's chipping in for the Albania national team as well.
Some number crunching website called Transfermarkt reckons Bajrami’s market value could stretch to the sum of £2.5 million which could buy you a decent flat in Knightsbridge (source).
His early days took him flying off to Switzerland in July 2009 to try his luck with the Grasshoppers. The grass must have been pretty green there as he stuck around for one whole decade: first with a modicum of success, making a total of 69 first team appearances and netting 9 goals.
In a shocking twist of events, Bajrami was whisked away to Empoli in the Serie B in Italy in August 2019 for a modest sum of around £430K. Might I also add that he boasted an impressive record over there: 118 first team appearances and 17 goals.
But, oh! The plot thickens. In 2023, Bajrami was loaned out to Sassuolo in the top Italian league in January, before enduring a miserable summer transfer for around £5.2 million in July. Reduced to a mere bit-part player, he could only muster 48 appearances with a meagre 3 goals.
Throwing caution to the wind and with a seemingly endless desire for a change of scenery, Bajrami found himself toiling in the Premiership in Scotland, lured to Rangers for £3.5 million in August 2024. Has he fared better there? Well, 28 appearances and 2 goals in the 24-25 season, and another 2 appearances with no goals in the present season say it all.
Oh, and let's not forget this travelling troubadour’s international and cup adventures. Besides taking to the field for Rangers, he seems to be quite enamoured with wearing his national colours, getting a fair number of starts in qualifiers for Albania and finding the back of the net a handful of times. An interesting smorgasbord of footballing accomplishments, or non-accomplishments, depending on how you look at it.
