Nedim Bajrami, the 26-year-old treading on the fine artistry of football pitches, is indeed a product from a cradle in Macedonia. Reports lend credence to the fact that he's a central midfielder, currently plying his trade for Rangers and also representing Albania at the international level. A lad of 5ft 10in (1.79m) with a weight of 10st 9lb (68kg), flagging the number 14 jersey conveniently.
In a cold, hard world of football valuations, Transfermarkt insists his current market value is a decent £3.4m. Remember, money doesn't grow on trees, nor does it naturally generate an excellent midfielder.
While he was just a wee lad in July 2009, Bajrami joined Grasshoppers in the Swiss Super League as a trainee. Progressing steadily through the ranks, our boy Bajrami rose to the fore in the 2016-2017 season, accruing seven appearances. By the end of his stint at Grasshoppers in 2019, he had amassed 69 appearances and chimed in with nine goals.
With the Swiss soiree over, Bajrami pirouetted toward the Italian Serie A to play for Empoli. A switch consummated in August 2019 for an approximate fee of £430k - a loose change for some but a footballer's bread and butter for others. Across four seasons at Empoli, the lad made himself indispensible netting 16 goals from 118 appearances.
Bajrami's tenure in Italy, however, resulted in a loan deal to Sassuolo in January 2023. Following this short stint, Sassuolo were sufficiently seduced and shelled out around £5.2m to acquire his services permanently. In the 2024-2025 season, he notched up two appearances for Sassuolo before he was lured away to Rangers in Scotland for a sum of £3.5m.
Now at Rangers, Bajrami has chalked up 27 appearances and managed to ripple the net twice. Despite having no past allegiance to Celtic, our interest in his thus-far journey is mainly due to his noteworthy performances in the League Cup, Scottish Cup, World Cup Qualifiers for Albania, Euro and Europa League. A decent tally of eight goals from these competitions points to a lad not shy of the goal.
