Mykola Kukharevych, born on the 1st of July 2001 (age 23) in Ukraine, is a forward and primary striker for Hibernian. He stands at a substantial 6ft 3in (1.93m) tall and is of solid build, weighing in at 12st 6lb (79kg). When playing for Hibernian, fans can spot him sporting the number 99 jersey.
Kukharevych took his first steps in professional football back in July 2014, when he joined Volyn Lutsk as a trainee in Persha Liha, a prominent league in Ukraine. However, it wasn't until February 2020 that Kukharevych transferred from Volyn Lutsk, also within Persha Liha, to Rukh Lviv in the Premier League, also in Ukraine, at an undisclosed fee. He put up a commendable performance in his debut season (2019 - 2020) at Rukh Lviv, making six first team appearances and rounding off the season with two goals. In the subsequent season (2020 - 2021) at Rukh Lviv, he managed to make 18 team appearances and scored two goals.
His next move came in July 2021 when he transferred from Rukh Lviv to Troyes in the French Ligue 2, again for an undisclosed sum. His time in Troyes was however short-lived, as he only managed to make two first team appearances during the season (2021 - 2022).
In August 2021, Kukharevych was loaned to Oud-Heverlee Leuven in the Pro League, Belgium. During his time in Belgium, he participated in six first team appearances in the season 2021 - 2022 and four first team appearances in the 2022 - 2023 season.
As his career continued to take him round Europe, in September 2022, he was loaned from Troyes to Hibernian, a popular name in the Scottish Premiership. Kukharevych found more game time in Scotland and made a positive impact at Hibernian. In his first season (2022 - 2023) he made 15 first team appearances, scoring five goals. He has also had a promising start to the current season (2024 - 2025), making seven appearances and netting one goal.
Between his spells at Hibernian, in July 2023, Kukharevych moved on a permanent basis from Troyes to Swansea City in the English Championship, once more for an undisclosed fee. He added a modest ten appearances and a single goal to his career stats during his stint in England (2023 - 2024 season).
As fate would have it, Kukharevych returned to Hibernian on loan in August 2024, and is currently playing in the season 2024 - 2025, where he has already made seven first team appearances and scored once. He also earned his stripes in the League Cup 2024 - 2025 for Hibernian, where he impressively scored one goal in a single start.
While the Ukrainian may not have played at Celtic Park, certainly, such a journeyman striker has the potential to ignite the passion of Celtic fans should his road one day lead him to the Green Brigade.
