Moritz Jenz, defender and central character in Wolfsburg's line-up, was born in Germany on 30th April 1999. While not a towering presence on the field, Jenz stands a respectable 6ft 2in (1.89m) and maintains a fighting weight of 12st 3lb (78kg). His jersey of choice is number 25.
Documenting his career trajectory, Jenz made his move from Fulham in England's Premier League to Switzerland's Super League outfit, Lausanne-Sport, in August 2020. Much about this transfer remains shrouded in uncertainty, with transfer fees staying undisclosed. Despite this, Jenz was quick to prove his worth in the debut season 2020/2021 at Lausanne-Sport, netting one goal in thirty initial team appearances. In the ensuing season, he clocked another two appearances but failed to score any goal.
Stirring a bit of interest in Ligue 2, Jenz made his second significant career move in August 2021. He left Lausanne-Sport for French side Lorient, a transfer that allegedly cost around £3m. During the 2021/2022 season, he made 17 first team appearances and scored one goal.
Jenz's next adventure came in July 2022 when he excited Scottish fans with a loan move to Celtic. During his stint with the club, Jenz reminded Celtic fans of his unquestionable talent by scoring two goals in 11 appearances in the 2022/2023 season.
Celtic Park is known for its fickle winter, and Jenz left the Scottish Premiership for Germany's 2. Bundesliga in January 2023, joining Schalke 04 on loan. His time at Schalke 04 was marked by a good run of form, with 11 first team appearances to his credit.
In July 2023, Jenz made another move, transferring to Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg for what is reported to be around £6.9m. At Wolfsburg, Jenz held his ground in the 2023/2024 season, making 22 appearances. However, in the current 2024/2025 season, he is yet to pull on the Wolves' kit in a league match.
His current club for the 2024/2025 season is Mainz 05. Temporarily transferred from Wolfsburg, Jenz has already made 19 appearances, showing he's still very much in the game.
