Miles Welch-Hayes, born 25 October 1996, is a seasoned defender in the realm of football. The English lad, often seen guarding the right back position, now plays for Livingston. Standing tall at 5 feet 10 inches (1.8m) and weighing a substantial 12 stone 10 pounds (81kg), Welch-Hayes has more than made his presence felt on the pitch.
Today, his market value is estimated at approximately £42k, according to Transfermarkt. Quite a leap, considering he initiated his professional career as a trainee for Oxford United in the Championship in England, back in July 2014. His debut season in 2016-2017 saw him play one league match for Oxford United.
A year later, in July 2017, Welch-Hayes moved to a new club, Bath City, in England's National League South. He played there for a season before being traded for an undisclosed fee to Macclesfield Town in England's Lower Leagues. By February 2020, he was on the move again, this time to Colchester United in England's League Two.
Fast forward to 2022; after two years at Colchester, Welch-Hayes found a new home with Harrogate Town, again in League Two. His first season saw him feature in ten league matches, earning a loan move to Altrincham in the National League in January 2023, where he turned heads with six appearances and a goal to his name.
Upon completing his loan stint, Welch-Hayes returned to Harrogate Town in June 2023, playing in another ten league matches during the same season. Then, in July of the same year, he was transferred to Livingston in Scotland's Premiership. After only three league matches, he was loaned to Dunfermline Athletic in Scotland's Championship in February 2024 – a spell which saw him score one goal in twelve league matches.
What followed was a back-and-forth dance between Livingston and two loan spells: first a return to Livingston upon completion of his loan at Dunfermline Athletic, then another loan move to Maidenhead United in England's National League South. The ultimate leap back to Livingston happened in June 2025, and as of season 2025 - 2026, Welch-Hayes is yet to make a first-team appearance.
Through his journey across diverse clubs and leagues, Miles Welch-Hayes has seen his fair share of challenges. One can only expect more resilience from this right-back defender in the seasons to come.
