Scottish footballer Mikey Johnston, given birth to on the 19th of April 1999, makes his mark as a left winger for West Bromwich Albion. This 5ft 9in (1.77m) tall and 10st 5lb (66kg) former Celtic trainee proudly dons the number 22 on his jersey.
Just as his domestic reputation grew with a presence in the Scottish Premiership, he garnered international attention, representing the Republic of Ireland on the national front. As of now, the lad is valued at around £2.5m, according to Transfermarkt.
In the summer of 2008, Johnston's journey began at Celtic. His introduction to first team football was slow, with initial sporadic appearances at the club starting in the 2016-2017 season. However, it was between the 2018 and 2021 seasons where he carved out a more regular role for himself, peaking with 14 league appearances and five goals in the 2018 - 2019 season.
In a brief period of change, Johnston was loaned out to Vitoria SC, Portugal in September 2022, only to return to the Premiership's Celtic the following summer. The 2023-2024 season, however, was cut short as he then embarked on a temporary stint with West Bromwich Albion in the English Championship in February 2024.
After a stint back at Celtic, Johnston was eventually sold to West Bromwich Albion in August 2024 for a fee of around £3m. His time in England has seen him earn a regular first team role, with standout performances in the 2024 - 2025 season as he notched up 40 league appearances and three goals.
Beyond his club obligations, Johnston has made his mark in the FA Cup for West Bromwich Albion, the League Cup, and also, quite impressively, with the Republic of Ireland national team in the Euro Qualifiers 2022 - 2024, scoring two goals in one start and five appearances as a substitute and the Nations League 2024 - 2025.
Whether it's for club or country, it's clear that Johnston is a player unafraid of the big stage and unyielding in the pursuit of his footballing ambitions.
