The life of Michel-Ange Balikwisha took an interesting turn on 10 May 2001 when he was born in Belgium. Before he became a recognisable name in the green and white livery of Celtic, this young man would cut his teeth in football as a forward, primarily positioned on the left wing. At 5ft 10in (1.78m) and weighing 11st (70kg), Balikwisha has a physical presence that caught the eye of the Belgium U21 national team, who selected him to represent his country.
On Transfermarkt, it was reported that Balikwisha's current market value rests around €6.00m, which comes to approximately £5.1m.
The career of Balikwisha began in earnest when he joined Standard Liege in Belgium's Pro League as a trainee in July 2014. During his remarkable debut season in 2020-2021, he made 26 first team appearances and placed the ball in the net seven times in league matches.
By July 2021, Balikwisha had procured a transfer to Royal Antwerp for a fee around the region of £5.4m. His inaugural season saw him take to the field 26 times, scoring four goals. In the following 2022-2023 season, he increased his league goal tally to six through 27 appearances, and then scored five goals from 23 appearances in the 2023-2024 season. Following these efforts, he made only five first team appearances in the 2024-2025 season and has scored one goal from four appearances in the current 2025-2026 season.
In the middle of 2025, Balikwisha made the journey across the English Channel and northwards to Scotland. His next chapter commenced with Celtic, though undoubtedly any mentioning of the transfer fee was kept safely locked away.
His time at Celtic thus far has been quite the spectacle. This season he has featured seven times for the first team in the league. Besides the league, Balikwisha has also made two substitute appearances in the League Cup 2025-2026 for Celtic and has thrice substituted in the Europa League 2025-2026 for Celtic.
