Michel-Ange Balikwisha was born in Belgium on 10 May 2001, standing now at 24 years of age. Primarily operating as a left winger, Balikwisha can proudly don the number 10 jersey for Celtic Football Club. He stands 5ft 10in tall (1.78m) and tips the scales at a lean 11st (70kg). On the international stage, he has earned caps for the Belgium U21 national side.
In terms of market value, Balikwisha is estimated to be worth around £6m according to Transfermarkt.
His career with Standard Liege began in July 2014, joining the Belgian Pro League outfit as a trainee. His debut season in 2020-2021 witnessed 26 first team appearances with a total of seven league goals to his name.
In July 2021, Balikwisha made the switch from Standard Liege to Royal Antwerp, another top-tier side in Belgium, for a lump sum equivalent of around £5.4m. His inaugural season (2021-2022) at Royal Antwerp saw him make 26 first team appearances and net four league goals. Consistency was key as the Belgian then racked up 27 first team appearances and six league goals in his second season (2022-2023), followed by 23 first team appearances and five league goals in the third season (2023-2024). The fourth and fifth seasons (2024-2025 and 2025-2026), however, were comparatively slow, with Balikwisha making only five and then four first team appearances respectively, scoring just a solitary goal in the latter season.
In a surprise move, Balikwisha was transferred to Celtic in August 2025 for an undisclosed fee. In his debut season (2025-2026) with the Scottish Premiership side, he has already made a handful of appearances and had a role to play in the League Cup 2025-2026 as a substitute. Still at the beginning of his journey with the Hoops, it remains to be seen how Balikwisha adjusts to the fast-paced and physical world of Scottish football.
