Michael Gardyne

Michael Gardyne of Montrose was born in Dundee, Scotland on 23 January 1986 (age 38)

Michael Gardyne, born on the 23rd of January 1986 (now 38 years of age), is a Scottish central midfielder. Currently playing for Montrose, Gardyne stands at 5ft 7in (1.71m) and weighs in at a solid 10st 1lb (64kg).

In July 2004, a young Gardyne began his professional football career at Celtic. It was a significant time for Gardyne, ingraining in him the technical foundations and mental stamina inherent within a club of Celtic's stature.

Two years later, in August 2006, Gardyne migrated from Celtic to Ross County on loan. Over multiple seasons from 2006 - 2021, Ross County served as his home ground, with only brief intermissions at Dundee United, Kilmarnock, and Greenock Morton marring his stewardship. Notably, during his time at Ross County, Gardyne made numerous first team appearances and netted several goals, lending to his reputation as a reliable midfielder.

It appears there was a change of scenery for Gardyne in August 2007, when he transferred from Celtic to Greenock Morton in the Championship in Scotland. However, he only made nine first team appearances in the 2007 - 2008 season before moving along to Ross County in January 2008 for an undisclosed fee.

In July 2012, Gardyne took his skills to Dundee United, a Premiership league side. However, after one season and thirty first team appearances, Gardyne was loaned out, this time to Kilmarnock, where he had his stint in the 2013 - 2014 season.

By September 2014, Gardyne was back home at Ross County; his on-off relationship with the club is testament to his seemingly seasonal search for fresh pastures. In 2015, he made another transfer, this time definite, from Dundee United to Ross County. He continued yielding his consistent performances and contribution to the team.

Finally, in July 2021, Gardyne transferred from Ross County to Inverness CT, before another transfer in January 2022 saw the midfielder land at Montrose, where he currently resides making significant contributions to the team with numerous league appearances and one goal in the 2022 - 2023 season. More recently, Gardyne has featured in eight league matches in the current 2024 - 2025 season.

Over his career, Gardyne has also had an active presence in cup competitions. His recent participations include the League Cup 2024 - 2025 for Montrose with four starts, Scottish Cup 2023 - 2024 with one start, and Championship Play-offs 2023 - 2024 with two starts.

Throughout his career, Gardyne has shown himself to be a steadfast soldier of Scottish football, a no-nonsense midfielder who has made significant contributions to every club that he has served.
