Michael Duffy was born in Derry on 28 July 1994 (age 32) and has built his career as a Republic of Ireland left winger, with Derry City the club most closely associated with his senior football.
His Celtic connection came early. He joined from Derry City in February 2015, a move that took him out of familiar surroundings at a formative stage of his career. By February 2017 he had moved on to Dundalk, where his senior career began to take clearer shape.
Dundalk proved an important spell. His most productive league season came there in 2019, when he scored 12 goals in 34 appearances. That was the period that pushed him beyond the category of a promising wide player with a Celtic line on the CV and into something more substantial.
After Dundalk, Duffy established himself more fully back at Derry City. In 2026 he remains a regular first-team presence, with 18 league appearances and six goals, alongside European qualifying and President’s Cup involvement. Across all competitions for Derry City that year, he has made 22 appearances and scored six goals.
Duffy’s career has run from Derry to Celtic, on to Dundalk, and back to Derry City, where he continues to play a meaningful role rather than simply filling out a squad.
