Matty Kennedy was born on 1st of November 1994 (age 30) in Northern Ireland. He primarily plays as a forward, preferably a left winger for Kilmarnock. He stands at a height of 5 feet 8 inches (1.75m) and weighs about 10 stone 3 pounds (65kg). Donned with the number 10 jersey, this laddie has seen quite a journey in his football career.
Finding his footing initially with Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership in 2011, Matty made a modest 11 first team appearances in his debut season, later making three more the following season. His consistent performances caught the international scout's eyes, and soon enough, Matty transferred to Everton in the English Premier League in August 2012. The fee for his transfer was undisclosed.
After gaining some experience in the big league, Kennedy played for Tranmere Rovers in January 2014 and MK Dons in March 2014 on loan. Stern game time was distributed over these smaller leagues, clocking in eight and seven appearances respectively, with Matty bagging a goal with the latter. Life turned full circle for him as he returned to the Scottish Premiership, playing for Hibernian on loan in August 2014, before signing with Cardiff City in the English Championship in February 2015.
A flurry of loan spells ensued, oscillating between Cardiff City, Port Vale, Plymouth Argyle and Portsmouth, with his game time varying in each club. With consistent appearances and a few goals to his name, Matty found stability once again in the Scottish Premiership as he signed for St Johnstone in July 2018. After stints with them and later with Aberdeen, he found himself back where it all started - Kilmarnock, in July 2023.
Kennedy has shown he has the determination and focus to adapt to varying circumstances, marking critical progress in his career chock-full of loan spells and transfers. As of the current season of 2024-25, he's made 19 first team appearances and scored four goals for Kilmarnock, and also partook in various cup runs. Despite the journeyman career approach, his love for the sport and dedication is conspicuous - one can only wait to see where his journey leads him next.
