Martin Boyle, born 25 April 1993, is a staunch Scottish-born forward who calls out his calls for Hibernian, gracing the right-wing like a well-scripted ballet. Standing at 1.78m (5ft 10in) and weighing in at 70kg (11st), the attacking juggernaut has cut a rather commanding figure on the pitch. Not only is he a stalwart for the Edinburgh-based team, he's also lifted the lid on his international career, opting to represent the land down under, Australia, despite being born in a land known more for bagpipes than surfing kangaroos.
Boyle started his career at Montrose in Scotland's League One, signing his induction papers in July 2009. The 2011 – 2012 season was a particularly fruitful period for the young forward, as he laced up his boots for 36 matches, netting 22 goals in the process. His impressive scoring exploits didn't go unnoticed, as by August 2012, Dundee of the Scottish Premiership was his new stomping ground.
His tenure at Dundee was interrupted briefly. In January 2013, Boyle returned to Montrose, this time on loan. Despite the back and forth, he managed to make 29 appearances for Dundee in the 2013 - 2014 season, finding the back of the net four times.
In January 2015, Boyle went on loan to Hibernian, also of the Premiership. His infectious energy seemed to find a home here, as he tallied up appearances and scored several important goals. In fact, his performances were so convincing that in July 2015, Hibs decided to make the move permanent.
Since then, Boyle's name has been synonymous with Hibernian's lineup. During the 2020 - 2021 season, he made 36 appearances and led the front line with 12 goals. This season (2025 - 2026), he has already made over 30 appearances, lighting up the back of the net seven times.
However, there was a brief period in January 2022 when Boyle traded the Scottish chill for some Arabian sunshine, switching to Al-Faisaly in Saudi Arabia's First Division at a cost of roughly £3m. However, the sojourn in the Gulf was brief, and by August of the same year, it was Hibs' green and white that Boyle was back wearing, having returned for an undisclosed fee.
Even with club duties, Boyle has not turned his back on international commitments. He's featured in the World Cup Qualifiers Asia 2024 - 2026 for Australia, contributing two goals in seven starts. At the club level, he participated in Hibernian's 2025 - 2026 League Cup quest, starting twice. He also ran out one time as a substitute during the Scottish Cup 2025 - 2026 for Hibs.
