Martin Boyle, a Scottish-born footballer, was brought into the world on the 25th of April, 1993. Now 32, he operates predominantly as a right-winger for Hibernian Football Club, donning the number 10 jersey. He stands at 5ft 10in (1.78m) and tips the scales at 11st (70kg). Interestingly, while he hails from Scotland, Boyle has chosen to represent the Australian national team on the international stage.
Boyle's venture into the professional football arena took flight back in July 2009, when he signed with Montrose in the Scottish League One as a wee trainee. Over the coming 4 seasons, he clocked up over 70 first team appearances and impressed with a substantial return of 33 goals, a remarkable improvement from his initial 5 appearances during the 2009 - 2010 season.
No sealed envelopes were exchanged when our man, in August 2012, made the move from Montrose to Dundee in the Scottish Premiership. His first season at Dundee was marked with 9 appearances, a tally which rose to 29 appearances with the addition of 4 goals netted in the following season, and a further 18 appearances throughout the 2014-2015 season. A detected pattern may hint at Boyle seeking greener pastures only to return to familiar grounds, as by January 2013 he had returned to Montrose on loan, a merry dance which saw him back to Dundee when he completed his loan term in May 2013.
Seems like the laddie enjoys a frequent flyer opportunity, as January 2015 saw him trotting over to Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership on loan. This period reaped him 17 first team appearances and 3 goals. Fast forward to July 2015, our lad reigned in a permanent position with Hibernian, post departing Dundee. From this point in time, through till 2026, Boyle's presence would be noted in every season, securing over 270 first team appearances and netting over 60 goals.
However, a swift deviation happened in January 2022, when Boyle opted for a mild climate change by way of transferring from Hibernian to Al-Faisaly in the Saudi Arabia First Division, for a handsome sum of around £3m. But, 'haste ye back' is a saying for a reason, as our fellow was back in the arms of Hibernian by August 2022.
Boyle extended his expertise beyond the Scottish borders, participating in the World Cup Qualifiers Asia 2024 - 2026 for Australia and demonstrating his finishing prowess with two goals in seven starts. His performances at Hibernian have also led to him taking part in the League Cup 2025 - 2026, Europa League Qualifiers 2025 - 2026, and the Conference League Qualifiers 2025 - 2026. During the Scottish Cup 2024 - 2025, he managed to bag a pair of goals within three starts. A truly well-travelled gent is our Boyle.
